To Do while in Nessebar – Visit the Old town:

The olden part of the town of Nessebar is a tablet shaped peninsula, crammed with history dating back to the bronze age. Walking deeper into the island a UNESCO World Heritage Site awaits you. A history lover’s feast, a glance at the traditional Bulgarian setting with its cobbled lanes and alleyways, old churches, wooden buildings and gabled houses leaves the mind relaxed and refreshed.

The old town of Nessebar houses 44 century old churches, ancient Roman ruins and an Archaeological museum as well as an Ethnological one. The New Metropolis or the St. Stefan Church dates back to the 11th -13th centuries While, the St. Spas Church built in 1609 has been converted into a museum. The Church of Christ Procrastinator is a well preserved church right in the centre of the old town.

Those talking a walk through Old Nessebar will come across the ruins of the thermal baths from the Byzantine empire. The Ethnological museum situated in this part of the island displays an exhibition of the Moskoyani House along with items used in daily life as well as traditional crafts and costumes of the area.

Not bad to see

"We took the tour of Nessebar during the summer. It was lovely to see and hear about the old town, and the many churches within it. I would recommend going in the afternoon as the evening can be very busy. There is many places to sit and have a quiet drink, many shops and lots of restaurants. A super place. "
